This month, we discussed shooting with natural light indoors, since with the icky weather recently, that's what quite a few of us are stuck with! I asked our readers to send in photos that they've shot indoors, and I'd love to share a couple here today!
This first one from Martha Buchanan is so striking that I just HAD to post it! This is Martha's gorgeous daughter, Molly. How could you ever let your camera leave your hands with a model like this right in front of you every day??
Martha says: "Natural light is stunningly beautiful when done well, and I have been trying to work with it more often! Attached is a photo of my daughter Molly. This portrait was taken using the natural light from a sliding glass door, softened with an old sheer curtain."

All work and no play? Not for International Destination Wedding Photographer Bobby Earle! Although he travels frequently for work, he also makes time for play, and for making friends. His Shootsac seems particularly friendly, no shy bag around here!

Last week, my camera gear travelled across the Atlantic ocean to England, snuggled inside a warm, cozy Shootsac! My 5d popped half a valium and my 50 1.2 and 35 1.4 slipped on their blackout eyepatches as together we flew to a land of royalty, sheep dotting the countryside, and afternoon tea.
Needless to day, it was a delightful experience!

Last weekend, two Shootsacs were spied canoodling at lavish resort Pelican Hill in Southern California! The two were found sitting by the pool sipping cocktails early in the day and attending the nuptials of Alias star Michael Vartan and his beautiful bride in the evening. They plan to spend their honeymoon surfing in the Maldives--what better place for neoprene?!
In all seriousness, check out this photo of the wedding shot by Victor Sizemore. Victor shot shootsac-free while helped by Michael Norwood and Aaron Dieppa who both donned Shootsacs as the best way to both shoot from the hip and help Victor on this celeb gig.

This HAS to be one of the best videos I've ever seen! Not only is the filming by Google completely emotional and incredible, but at about 2:45, Kristyn opens her wedding gift from John Paul, and it's pretty darn cool :)
This week, we are focusing on FRIENDSHIP! One of the reasons why friendship is on my mind lately is that being pregnant and not living near any of mine or Jeff's family, we rely heavily on the love and support of our friends. These friendships both enrich and light my life, and I'm so thankful for the people who have become my California family!
Photo-wise, my BFF is my SHOOTSAC! Let's look at the facts:
--it's always there for me
--i entrust it with my precious cargo
--it never complains and is always supportive
All the characteristics of a BFF!
So last week, I asked you to send me a photo of YOUR BFF and I just love the responses! Today, we have a submission from Stacee Lianna:
"I attached a photo of my BFF, Jack. He's 5 years old and we've been BFFs since he was 3. We met when I became friends with his mom, but now his mom and I have to ask if we're allowed to have "grown up time" when I come over to hang out, otherwise I would spend it in his room playing galactic heroes, in the fort he made on his bunk beds with his bright orange sheets, or watching him play super mario brothers on the wii.
We just moved in next door to each other in November, and most days when I get home from work he asks to come over, even though I have a "grown up house" with no fun toys, he just wants to come be with me. He is the sweetest little boy I have ever met, also the most energetic and crazy, sometimes it's hard for me to keep up. haha! Last year he rescheduled his birthday party because I had a photo session scheduled for the same day and he couldn't have his party without me. And he's invented something called The Rule between us where whenever we're parting ways, we have to give each other a hug and a kiss. Sometimes, if either of us forget, I'll be walking home and he'll come running out of the house yelling "THE RULE!! THE RULE!!"
Everyone needs to find 5 year old best friend."
