"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." George Bernard Shaw
When I first moved into my house in Ladera Ranch three years ago, it was the first time I'd ever lived on my own. Since previously I had just been renting a room and an office in someone elses' larger home, I didn't own much! The first thing I did was go furniture shopping, where I essentially filled my two bedroom town house that very day.
Most of the furniture I bought (well, ALL of it if you want to get technical) was furniture that looked like it would be completely appropriate in my mother's house in Cary, North Carolina. It was all within the range of fall-colored neutrals, brown leather, and Pottery Barn. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, but also nothing that would give the impression to anyone that I, JESSICA, lived there.
Over the next couple of years, I started really looking around at the world around me and how people I knew decorated their homes so that you would really FEEL who those people were when you walked into their homes. I started thinking about what might represent me--what style really belonged in my home! Just yesterday, I moved into a new house, and I'm leaving my old look behind.
I want people to know who I am the minute I walk through the front door, and I finally feel like I am BOLD enough to wear my style on my sleeve! Photos coming soon....
Who do you want to be known as in the world? Now you can start letting the world know, one COVER at a time!

We've received a few questions about this, sohere's the deal with the NEW MESSENGER STYLE HIP SLIP COVERS!!
They are longer than the original Shootsac covers and are designed to be attached to the HIPSLIP on the back of the bag where it says SLIP ON SOME STYLE. In this position you can give our sleeve the look of a true messenger bag. Guys seem to really love this look. I like having instant access to my laptop compartment so I added a panel in the front of the bag where you can also add your cover. We call this the Shootsac position because all Original Shootsac covers will look great when attached this way.
The point is, all you SHOOTSAC owners out there just won big! Now your favorite first edition cover will give your Hipslip a fresh look!
Here are some samples of the HIPSLIP, and also a shot of some of the new, HIPSLIP edition covers coming to you this TUESDAY!!!

I was laughing when I thought of this.... but remember that old saying "friends with benefits?" well, I have started thinking of the new HIP SLIP as a sleeve with BENEFITS.
We have always loved the idea of a sleek simple sleeve. I mean you're standing at the Apple store surrounded by the most sleek simple machines on the planet -- you feel so chic and modern. It's a travesty to put a MAC inside a stuffy, bloated, no style briefcase right?
Sleeves are cool - but in real life -- I end up cramming my power cord and all the other stuff I carry right on top of my laptop. One good scratch -- and that's a lesson learned the hard way. OUCH!
The new HIP SLIP -- is a legit sleeve with benefits. We took all the sleek cool stuff we loved in the sleeve concept -- and seasoned it with a lot more functionality. It has an inside pocket, two outside pockets and one hidden zipper pocket. We used thicker neoprene which does a better job of holding its shape -- so even if you stuff it -- it looks a little more "intentional". Yay!
We even added a 100% removable strap with disappearing hang-straight buckles as an extra bonus. Sometimes I need to go hands free so my sleeve needed to be a little more self-sufficient. But, I hate bags that have handles or straps and then when you don't need them and take them off you're left with remnant flippers! You can use the HIP SLIP as a sleeve or a messenger bag and it won't look like a mutant either way.
The HIP SLIP truly is a "sleeve with benefits".
Initially designed for the full line of Apple Notebooks, the HIPSLIP, will accommodate laptops from several major brands.

MY CAMERA GETS JEALOUS BECAUSE I SPEND SO MUCH TIME WITH MY LAPTOP :)
I had the chance to get away with the girls this week to the uber chic Viceroy in Palm Springs for my bachelorette party. We had an amazing time doing all kinds of things... but at least one of them, was a lifestyle shoot for the new HIP SLIP by Shootsac which is launching on Tuesday, September 1st. I love this shot of the 4 of us all sitting there with our 17 inch Macs -- but it seriously got me to thinking. In real life, I probably spend MORE time with my laptop than I do with my camera. Think about it, when I'm not Shooting -- I use my laptop to meet with clients, stay caught up on email or do all my processing work. I bet my camera actually gets jealous. Just wait til my 5d - sees the new HIPSLIP I got for my Mac :)
Make sure you are on our List so you don't miss out on Tuesday. Just go to the top of the blog, click **MAILING LIST** and add yourself NOW!!

Yes folks, it is coming BACK!! HIPSLIP, our stylish, sleek, modern, cool looking laptop bag is about to become available next week and that makes life GOOOOOD around here! September, which is right around the corner shall henceforth be known as CREATIVITY MONTH!
So tell your friends--you'll want to be on this blog all week long for your chance to be featured, to win a gift, to speak your mind about things you love/are inspired by/have created!!!
Two of my friends created something amazing for me this past week, my bridal shower! Chenin Boutwell and Mark Brooke, who are two of the craftiest, most creative people I know, spent many hours making the cutes stuff for the shower.
This is what the overview looked like. The girls made the hanging poms by hand, as well as the table flowers (they were tons of paper layers), the placemats, and the tags on the wooden cooking utencils:
Here's some details of the flowers and labels (and chenin's shoes)
The favors were the cutest little heart measuring spoons. The middle photo is Stuart, Chenin's garden gnome, and on the right is a little game we played. There were all these questions about me, and the winner won a prize. Shootsac CO-FOUNDER Keats Elliott won the game (she even beat out my mom. I will say though, I made Jeff fill it out later and he got the most right of anyone--he only missed two!)
My favorite thing--a Pimp My Cupcake station--how delicious!!
Each of these crafts was done with love by Chenin and Candice. Here are the links Chenin pulled together in case you would like to attempt some creativity of your own! Time consuming, yes, but SO worth it!
Do you have a birthday? I'm guessing you probably do :) Most everyone I know has a birthday, and even if you don't have a birthday, it doesn't really matter because you can just put one in to our birthday form anyway :)
Our **BIRTHDAY BLAST LIST** is one of my favorite things that shootsac does. Every single month, we send out an email late on the first day of that month to all the people who are on our list having a birthday in that particular month. The blast has a little birthday goodie for all of those peeps.
Who would turn down a free birthday gift? That would just be crazy! Get on the list!

Shootsacs are back in stock and better than ever! It's the same protective bag you know and love with just a few material tweaks in the new batch. Gotta match the new HIP SLIP :)
It's been a LONG month with zero inventory on our site or our resellers' sites, but we're so glad to have them back now! Check out the SHOOTSAC site to pick one up with a free bright solid cover till the end of the month (or while supplies last)!

I can't believe it's August already. Last month, we hit the tipping point and we're now in the second half of the year. Is it just me or his this year gone unbelievably fast??
August makes me think of the hottest days of summer, the last vacation before school starts back, running after the ice cream truck, and sitting outside with a slurpee!
August is a good month to be born. It's a month with few responsibilities, not too close to the end of the year, no holidays with obligations. All we're really celebrating this month is the birthdays of all August babies!
